Canada eyes building vocational college in Binh Duong

The province’s industry has been developing at the most impressive speed in Vietnam, so the demand for vocational training will be great, said Brian Allemekinders, adding that the college should be established as soon as possible.

According to Nguyen Van Hiep, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Binh Duong needs ten more colleges and universities to train the province’s workforce between now and 2020, when it expects to have more than 30 industrial zones and an estimated population of over two million.

“The province is in urgent need for trained labours, especially highly skilled ones,” Hiep said.

Binh Duong currently hosts a number of private vocational colleges and foreign-invested schools, including the Vietnam-Singapore Technical School, which trains some 10,000 workers each year.
The Canadian agency has worked with a local company on the location for the future school and investment procedures.
